2018 is drawing to a close and the world is getting ready to step out into the New Year! Many people find this the perfect time to reflect on the past years challenges and success. By now mostly everyone has their New Year’s resolution ready. You might resolve to change an undesired trait or behaviour, accomplish a personal goal or generally improve your life. As the saying goes “New Year, New You!” But once the New Year’s celebrations are over and routine sets back in, how do you keep the momentum going with the same positive outlook? Let’s look at some realistic ways to achieve those goals and seize the day, every day!
Make a plan! Write down your goals and set a realistic time frame to achieve each of them. Psychologists have found we’re more likely to succeed if we break our resolution into smaller goals over a time period. Losing weight is a popular resolution for example. Set clear, realistic goals such as losing 10pounds in two months or going for a run once a week.
Don’t try to be a Superhero! We are all human and can only ever do our best, so solving to achieve 20thins may be unrealistic. Stick to one resolution and your chances of success are greater when you channel energy into changing one aspect of your life.
Talk about it to friends and family! Stay focused on your resolution, talk about it to friends and family, this will keep you motivated to stick to your goal. You’re more likely to get support to keep up your resolution and will want to avoid failure so find motivation in those around you.
Positive affirmations may help too. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to overcome negative, self-sabotaging thoughts.
Meditation or mindfulness is also another way to help achieve your goals. There are many tools available to help you achieve anything from being calmer or “stress free” to losing weight or gaining love or success. Thanks to its growing popularity across the globe, finding a meditation technique that works for you is easier than ever! And finally, the “Happy New Year” message is to start a positive way of thinking and to see the glass as half full rather than half empty! It is easy to think negative thoughts but make a commitment to yourself and change the bad thoughts into something more positive. With repeated efforts this will eventually create a change in the way you perceive things.
Wherever you are, whatever you do and whatever your heart desires.. 'Happy New Year 2019!!! With all the best new year’s wishes that you find in the spirit of success, love and joy.
